Atlanta Beltline Cleanup Opportunity

Harvard Alumna Brittany Lemon has recently adopted a section (the Westside Trail) of the Atlanta Beltline and will host the Harvard Club of Georgia in a community service opportunity. On Saturday, September 14th from 11:30am - 1:30pm, we will help beautify the Beltline by clearing weeds and cleaning up vandalism. All tools and materials will be provided. Please register so we know howmany to expect.

Volunteer Guide:

Attire

• Wear closed-toe shoes.
• Pants and long sleeves are recommended to avoid contact with poison ivy, limit scratches from removing invasive plants and protect from sunburn & bug bites.
• Dress appropriately for the weather. 

Supplies

• Bring a reusable water bottle. 
• Wear gloves -- either your own or what's provided.
• Use sunscreen and bug spray if possible.
• ** A first aid kit, bottled water and a limited number of gloves will be on hand. 

Additional Information

• There is no maximum number for participation but at least 10 volunteers are needed for a successful workday.
• On workday, a brief orientation will be conducted to discuss safety, invasive species and equipment handling. Here is a link to learn more about invasive species in GA beforehand: https://www.gainvasives.org/presentation/. 
• All necessary tools and supplies, including shovels, rakes, weeders and trash bags, are provided. 

Parking & Directions

• The segment is adjacent to Aluma Farm: 1150 Allene Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. On-street parking is encouraged on Allene Avenue SW, Wamer Street SW, Woodrow Street SW and Catherine Street SW. Please pay attention to regulatory parking signs. The volunteer leader will meet volunteers in front of the very noticeable tiny house on the segment.
