A History of Gay and Lesbian Atlanta
Presented by FAS Professor Dr. Ian Lekus
Join Harvard FAS Professor Dr. Ian Lekus for a panel discussion among Atlanta's leading history-makers in the gay and lesbian community. From the civil rights movement to the AIDS Crisis to the formation of the modern gay and lesbian community, a distinguished set of panelists will speak to the community's challenges, struggles, and successes.
Dr. Lekus is Chair of the Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History, an affiliate society of the American Historical Association. He is also a Lecturer at Harvard in History and Literature, the Harvard Extension School, the Freshman Seminar Program, has taught in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program, and is currently a tutor for Dudley House. Dr. Lekus was also a professor at the University of Georgia before joining Harvard.

Confirmed panel attendees include: Mary Louise Covington, Eyewitness to the Stonewall Rebellion, and Progressive Political Activist Pat Hussain: National Outreach Coordinator of the 1993 National March on Washington for LGBT Rights, and co-founder of Olympics Out of Cobb Dr. Jesse Peel: A leader of the Atlanta gay community's response to the AIDS crisis.
Additional panel members may also be announced.
Cost: $15. Light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided. A cash bar will also be available.
