Harvard Lends a Helping Hand

Join the Harvard Club of Georgia to volunteer with the Atlanta Food Bank in the Product Rescue Center (“PRC”) on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.

The Product Rescue Center provides quality food, beverages, and health products to over 800 non-profit partner agencies in Metro Atlanta and the North Georgia area. These partner agencies, in turn, distribute these products to individuals and families in need. Volunteers make this possible by sorting, inspecting and packing donated items for these groups.  This activity will be a fun, hands-on project for everyone!

Time:   6:00 pm to 8:30 pm (The PRC respectfully requests that volunteers commit to working the entire shift)

Parking and directions:  Directions to the facility can be found at http://www.acfb.org/info/location/.    Please follow these directions, as some online mapping programs are inaccurate for the location. After parking, follow the signs to the PRC entrance located at the rear of the building. The parking lot at ACFB is locked after the end of each evening and Saturday afternoon.  If volunteering during these times, ACFB volunteers are advised not to leave their cars in the lot after their shift has concluded.

Additional Information

  • Requested Attire:  Wear closed-toed shoes.  No sandals, flip-flops, or high-heeled shoes are allowed.
  • Arrival Time:  5:45 pm. Volunteers who arrive after 6pm may be asked to return at a later date.
  • Paperwork: Click here for a sign-in sheet for volunteers visiting for the first time. To expedite the sign-in process, please complete in advance. Volunteers under the age of 18 do not need to fill out a form - their names can be listed on the back of any one of the adult volunteer forms.
  • Age Requirements:  Volunteers must be at least eight years old.  An adult must accompany volunteers under 18 yrs. old.
  • Physical Requirements:  Volunteers must be able to lift 20-40lbs and stand for prolonged periods of time.
