HarvardX Course Discussion Group
Fundamentals of Neuroscience with Professor David Cox
HarvardX is an experimental course that highlights seven different subject modules, including neuroscience, poetry, and computer science. The seven segments are released one at a time, every two weeks and our first Harvard Club of Georgia discussion group, is Saturday March 29th from 10 am to noon. The topic is The Fundamentals of Neuroscience, with David Cox, and we are one of 20 Clubs nationwide who will be receiving the "SpikerBox" to enhance our discussion group.
The SpikerBox is a hands-on way to engage the subject matter -- it is a “bioamplifier" that allows us to hear and see real living neurons (in invertebrates) in action. Our group will be able to replicate the demonstration Professors David Cox and Robert Lue undertake in the course material. The experiment is outlined here: https://backyardbrains.com/experiments/spikerbox. Registration for HarvardX is free and available here: http://alumni.harvard.edu/x. You must register using this link first -- that's where you'll be able to access the content and material for different modules.
