SPEAKER: Genie Beaver

BIO: Genie Beaver is the founder and owner of West Stride Running Store. Her passion for running inspired her to open West Stride in 2008 in order to serve needs of the growing Atlanta running community, provide a place that connects local runners and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Since 2008, West Stride has grown into one of the major players in Atlanta’s specialty running retail arena. In fact, in 2011, Genie achieved the milestone of hitting over $1M in annual revenue in West Stride’s third year of business. Only 3 percent of women-owned businesses achieve such a goal. Furthermore, since 2008, her donations to non-profits that directly impact the local area total over $65,000. She is a strong proponent of working locally to build and grow the livelihood of the community, and developing women into leaders in the specialty running business.

Genie attended Georgetown University, where she majored in international business and marketing, and was a two-time All American runner.  After college, Genie worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in corporate finance before returning to school to earn her MBA at Southern Methodist University in 1998. Genie has was part of the inaugural LEAD Atlanta class (’05) and also received “40 under 40” award in 2011.

She is married to Todd Beaver and has lived and worked in Atlanta since 2000.  Genie and Todd own and operate 1-800-GOT-JUNK? of Northwest Atlanta and Rapid Recovery (refrigerant abatement) of Atlanta. They also have two children, Sylvia (8) and Carlin (5).
