ABOUT THE SHOW:

The show started as a Broadway production (starring actor Laurence Fishburne) and explores the life of Thurgood Marshall (1908 - 1993), the first black Supreme Court Justice (from 1967 - 1991). Marshall is most famous for his work on the Brown Vs. Board of Education Supreme Court decision that asserted “separate cannot be equal,” legally ending 60 years of the Plessy vs. Ferguson ruling. Considering this important legacy, we will discuss:

  • What are the barriers to equal education today?
  • How does the legacy of Marshall’s groundbreaking work inform our generation?
  • What can we do to address current disparities in education?
