A Celebration of Black Art, History & Culture
To benefit the 50th Anniversary of the Kuumba Singers of Harvard College
Evening includes a private reception and showing of the High Museum of Art exhibit “Something Over Something Else: Romare Bearden’s Profile Series,” the first exhibition to bring dozens of works from the eminent series together since its debut nearly 40 years ago. Romare Bearden is considered one of the most important American artists of the 20th century, depicting aspects of black culture in a collage and Cubism style. The Kuumba Singers were formed in 1970 to express the creativity and spirituality of Black people in a way that leaves a space better than it was found. Kuumba will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in April 2020. This event is hosted by Courtney Knight, AB '82 and made possible by a donation from the Warren Family Foundation. Please register by Nov. 14th.
